Microsoft Teams up with Area Foundation

A remarkable collaboration between employees from the world's largest software company, the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation, and five local homeless shelters will result in a boost for the shelters.
Fargo Microsoft team members who will walk or run in the Fargo Marathon this spring are raising contributions through sponsorships. All contributions will be paid into a new charitable fund opened by the team members at the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation
In turn, the Foundation will distribute the funds collected equally to the five local shelters: Churches United for the Homeless. The Dorothy Day House of Hospitality, the Gladys Ray Shelter, the New Life Center, and the YWCA. The team members have a goal of reaching $100,000 in contributions.
John Messelt, a Microsoft team member from the Fargo campus, was one of the local company leaders who helped get the initiative started.
"The Fargo Marathon is such a wonderful event," Messelt said. "Microsoft had over 200 people participate last year and we decided to channel that participation and enthusiasm towards a good cause." The plight of the homeless population in Fargo-Moorhead, especially during our cold winter, because their clear choice.

Microsoft employee contributions to this effort will be matched dollar for dollar by the company and in addition, the company will be paying all administrative and credit card fees incurred in the process.
